What is a mini PC?

Published on 20 februari 2020

Computers and their parts are getting smaller and smaller. Those who buy a new laptop today will notice that it weighs significantly less than a few years ago. Who would open the laptop will even notice that much of the space inside is just air.

You can now also buy a desktop computer in the form of a mini PC. Usually they are about 10 by 10cm and 4 centimeters high. That is by no means comparable to the traditional desktops in terms of size.

About 6 to 7 years ago, the first mini PCs made their way to private individuals. Then it was still a bit laughable because many thought they could never replace the desktop: too small, too warm, too loud, too little power,…

And now look: the mini-PCs are currently more popular than ever. They are particularly popular as a second computer. The reason for this is that the power these little monsters can generate is sufficient for everyday computer tasks these days. Play movies, use the internet, e-mail, banking, Office applications, music, photos, ... it's all possible with a cheap mini-PC.

Configure your own all-in-one computer

With a mini desktop you can configure an all-in-one computer yourself by mounting it on the back of a monitor. Almost all SKIKK mini PCs have a VESA connection with which you can normally mount a monitor on the wall. This allows you to easily attach the mini PC to the monitor. This saves space on your desk, so of course you still have cables. But you can tie these together and process them behind the monitor.
